A new case of road rage in Athens has seen a motorist pull a handgun and threaten another driver following a traffic dispute, police said Thursday.
A police statement said the gunman was taken onto custody shortly after the incident Wednesday afternoon at the junction of Vouliagmenis and Ilia Iliou avenues in Neos Kosmos.
The arrest was carried out by motorcycle police who spotted the suspect’s car on Vassilissis Sofias Avenue, near the Athens Concert Hall. The statement said the 34-year-old man “strenuously resisted” arrest.
The suspect was found in possession of a handgun with 11 blank bullets.
Recent cases of road rage in Athens have included an attack on a woman who suffered a broken leg following a dispute over parking rights.
