House of Representatives aspirants and critical stakeholders from Nsukka Zone have issued a strong warning to the Nigeria Democratic Congress against the imposition of a senatorial candidate for Enugu North Senatorial District.
They insisted that internal democracy, transparency and fairness must guide the emergence of candidates for the three House of Representatives seats in the zone.
The warning was contained in a communiqué issued after a crucial strategic meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, where the stakeholders stressed that the people of Nsukka would resist any form of political imposition.
The group argued that Nsukka Zone, which accounts for an estimated 56 per cent of Enugu state’s voting population, remains too politically strategic for the party leadership to ignore the feelings of the people.
