The allegations were contained in a communique issued after a meeting of the Enugu Forum of Aspirants held in Enugu on Monday.
A major crisis has erupted within the Enugu State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) after aggrieved aspirants rejected the party's primary election process, passed a vote of no confidence on former Enugu State Governor Okwesilieze Nwodo and other party leaders, and alleged that over N1billion was extorted from aspirants during the controversial nomination exercise.
The aspirants, drawn from the three senatorial zones of the state, accused the Nwodo-led leadership of hijacking party structures, manipulating the candidate selection process and undermining internal democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The allegations were contained in a communique issued after a meeting of the Enugu Forum of Aspirants held in Enugu on Monday.
The forum in the Communique made available to SaharaReporters declared that no valid primary election was conducted in the state and insisted that neither direct primaries nor a consensus arrangement recognised by the party's guidelines and the Electoral Act 2026 took place.
