Sources within the institution told SaharaReporters that only a few of the 111 students posted for the psychiatric experience were able to secure accommodation on their own, while many others remained stranded.
Students of the College of Nursing Sciences, St. Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital, Onitsha, Anambra State, have accused the institution’s management of abandoning them without accommodation at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu, despite allegedly collecting ₦80,000 from each student for a psychiatric clinical experience programme.
The development comes as SaharaReporters published an exposé detailing allegations of intimidation, extortion, arbitrary expulsions and high-handedness against the Provost of the institution, Mrs Theresa Ita Aniedu Obi-Odinukwe, by students and staff members.
In fresh complaints obtained by SaharaReporters on Monday, affected students alleged that over 100 students were left stranded inside the hospital premises after arriving Enugu for the psychiatric posting exercise.
Videos seen by SaharaReporters showed students’ bags and personal belongings littered around the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital compound, with some students reportedly sleeping outdoors from Saturday until Monday morning because they had nowhere to stay, and may continue to sleep there until miracle happened.
