Two persons were killed in separate accidents in the district on Saturday.
Palaniappan (76), a resident of Johnson Road near Hasthampatti, was heading to Hasthampatti by a two-wheeler on Friday when a speeding two-wheeler hit his vehicle at Raja Nagar. He sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to Salem Government Hospital. He died on Saturday. The Hasthampatti police registered a case and are investigating.
In another accident, K. Vijay (25), a resident of Adari near Veppur in Cuddalore district, along with his friend Mathialagan (30), was going to Karnataka by two-wheeler on Friday. When they reached Attur bypass road around 9 p.m., a lorry collided with the two-wheeler. In the accident, Vijay died on the spot. Mathialagan was admitted to Attur Government Hospital. The Attur Rural police registered a case and are investigating.
