Four persons were killed in separate road accidents reported in Chennai and Tiruvallur district on Friday.
Yashwanth, 13, a Class VII student of a government-aided school in Tiruvallur, and two college students — Rajpriyan, 19, and Rishi, 18, from Avadi — were travelling on a motorcycle near the new flyover on the Chennai-Tirupati National Highway bypass at Eekadu, when a lorry rammed the motorcycle from behind. All three were thrown off the vehicle, sustaining serious injuries in the impact.
Passers-by rushed them to the Government Hospital in Tiruvallur. Yashwanth succumbed to his injuries, and the other two are undergoing treatment.
Kamesh, 26, of Sevvapet near Tiruvallur was driving towards Sevvapet on the Chennai-Tirupati Outer Ring Road, opposite Kakkalur SIDCO, on Friday night, when a lorry collided head-on with his car. Kamesh died on the spot. Tiruvallur Taluk police recovered the body and sent it to the Tiruvallur Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Palaniswami, 70, of Indira Gandhi Street in Kollachery was crossing the four-way junction in Kollachery on Friday afternoon, when a goods vehicle coming from the wrong direction hit him. He sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to the Tambaram Government Hospital, where he died before receiving treatment.
