Four persons, including two women, were killed in separate road accidents reported in Tiruchi city and in Pudukottai district on Wednesday. Police sources said three persons on a motorcycle were proceeding on Dindigul - Tiruchi main road when the fatal accident occurred in the morning. The two-wheeler riders were identified as Ramesh, Vinod and Saravanan.The motorcycle was taking a turn at a centre median opening in Karumandapam area, when it collided with a lorry proceeding towards Pirattiyur.Police said Ramesh, who was riding the motorcycle, and Vinod on the pillion, were killed on the spot, while Saravanan - another pillion rider was undergoing treatment. The lorry driver has been named as the accused. The Traffic South Investigation unit has registered a case.In another fatal accident, a 70-year-old woman and her 25-year-old daughter-in-law were killed on Tiruchi - Pudukottai national highway at Koplikaadu in Keeranur police station limits in Pudukottai district. Police identified the deceased as C. Veerayee, 70, and her daughter-in-law V. Shanthi, 25.Shanthi was riding a scooter with her mother-in-law on the pillion when the accident occurred. As the scooter entered the highway from a cut road, a Tiruchi-bound car from Pudukottai knocked the two women down, killing them on the spot.
