Four persons, including a school student, died in two different accidents near Madukkarai in Coimbatore district on Sunday (March 29, 2026).
The police said that C. Srinithi (16), a Class XI student from TAHDCO Colony at K.G. Chavadi, died after she was hit by a truck at 6.45 p.m. on Sunday. The accident took place when she was sitting in front of her residence on the service road of Salem - Kochi highway. A negligently driven LPG truck veered off the road and hit her.
Around 200 residents staged a road blockade following the accident. The K.G. Chavadi police are investigating.
In another accident within the limits of the K.G. Chavadi police, two persons died after their car collided with another car on Sunday evening. The police have identified the deceased as Vineesh G. (31) and Ajith C. (24) of Palakkad, both wedding photographers. A co-passenger suffered grievous injuries. The police said that the accident took place when they were heading to Palakkad.
In a third incident, a two-wheeler rider died in an accident on the Salem - Kochi Highway near Madukkarai on Sunday evening. The police, who were in the efforts to identify the deceased, shifted the body to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
