A college student and a schoolgirl lost their lives in separate road accidents reported in the Tambaram region on Friday evening.Kaushika, 21, was travelling home on a two-wheeler after attending classes at a private college near Kattankulathur.While travelling along the Vandalur-Wallajabad Road near Mannivakkam, she was startled by the horn of a tipper lorry, lost control of her two-wheeler, and crashed into a moped, according to the police.Head injuriesKaushika suffered severe head injuries in the collision, while the moped rider, an elderly woman, also sustained injuries.Both were rushed to a nearby private hospital, where the doctors declared Kaushika dead.In another accident, Kavya, a Class 6 student of a government school in Mannivakkam, was returning home with her grandfather, Dhansingh, on a two-wheeler via the Tambaram-Mudichur Road, when a government bus hit their vehicle from behind, throwing them off onto the road.Passers-by rushed them to a private hospital. However, doctors pronounced Kavya dead on arrival. Dhansingh was later referred to the Tambaram District Government Hospital.The Guduvanchery Traffic Investigation Wing registered separate cases in connection with the two accidents.The bodies of both the students were sent to the Tambaram District Government Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
