An 80-year-old woman died allegedly after a two-wheeler hit her on Yercaud Main Road at Chinna Kollapatti on Sunday (May 31). The deceased was identified as P. Chellammal (80) from Chinna Kollapatti. According to police, T. Asish (21) of Kasi Muniappan Kovil Street in Salem town was heading to Yercaud on his scooter on Sunday morning. At Chinna Kollapatti, the two-wheeler hit Chellammal while she was trying to cross the road. She sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. The Kannankurichi police sent the body to Government Hospital in Salem for a post-mortem examination. The police registered a case. Published - May 31, 2026 05:15 pm IST
