A 46-year-old woman was killed after a speeding car hit the two-wheeler she was riding pillion on, near Perumbakkam on Thursday (May 21, 2026). A senior official of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said that Srinivasan, a resident of an apartment complex in Ezhil Nagar, Perumbakkam, was taking his wife Malleswari, on his bike to the doctor.The couple was traveling towards Perumbakkam along the Nookampalayam Main Road when a car, while reversing, collided with their bike. Both the husband and wife were thrown off the vehicle. While Malleshwari suffered a serious head injury and was killed on the spot, Srinivasan escaped with minor injuries. The driver of the car reportedly fled the spot. Following the incident, the Pallikaranai Traffic Investigation Wing police were alerted and they sent the body to the government hospital in Tambaram for post-mortem.
