A couple was killed after a lorry rammed them from behind on the main road at Koranattukaruppur in Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district on Saturday night. The police identified the victims as D. Pandian, 35, and his wife P. Anushiya, 29. Police sources said the couple was riding a two-wheeler on the roadside waiting to cross the road when the lorry rammed them from behind. In the impact of the collision, the couple was killed on the spot. They were residents of Koranattukaruppur in Kumbakonam. The lorry also hit another two-wheeler nearby causing injuries to two youths. M. Abimanyu, 22, driver of the lorry of Mayiladuthurai district was arrested.
