Canada has pledged to roll out “dollar for dollar” counter-tariffs on scores of U.S. goods next month, in response to President Donald Trump’s latest import taxes that have plunged the North American neighbors deeper into a bitter trade war.

President Donald Trump’s import taxes will hit about 5% of what Canada ships to the United States every year, including products ranging from hockey sticks to tongue depressors.

Carney said the equivalent dollar-for-dollar counter-tariffs will focus on sectors such as dairy, steel, household appliances, farming equipment, electronics, and pulp and paper
