The government is divided over the preferences. With the opposition hot on her heels and Vannacci calling for a vote, Meloni is said to have instructed her senators to proceed.This has been confirmed by Fdi senators themselves. Forza Italia and the Lega are set to fall into line. They are opposed to the move, but for Tajani and Salvini, a split would come at an electoral cost.
