Two defendants in the case involving the discovery of the frozen corpse of a months-old baby inside a suitcase at a short-term rental in central Athens over the weekend are to face murder charges, prosecutors have decided.
The 43-year-old Greek man and his 38-year-old German partner also face weapons and ammunition charges as well as false testimony.
The new charges follow the discovery of the infant’s body at an apartment in Kypseli, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
According to a coroner’s report, the child’s body bore at least 10 stab wounds.
A 26-year-old Afghan man, who allegedly had a relationship with a 15-year-old girl who was also living in the apartment, is facing separate charges, including sexual acts with a minor under the age of 12 and over the age of 12. He also faces charges of illegal possession of ammunition and false testimony.
