The Danube River level is continuing to rise slightly along most of Bulgaria's section, offering some relief after the river reached historically low levels. However, the hydrological situation remains difficult, and restrictions on vessel drafts are still in place along the entire Bulgarian stretch.
Data from the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River showed the largest increase over the past 24 hours near Silistra, where the water level rose by 7 centimeters. The level near Ruse increased by 5 centimeters, while rises of 3 centimeters were recorded near Svishtov, 2 centimeters near Oryahovo and 1 centimeter near Lom.
The only decline was recorded near Novo Selo, where the level fell by 2 centimeters.
According to Eng. Ivelin Zanev, director of the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River, the recent increase is linked to rainfall that occurred about 10 days ago in the western part of the river's watershed.
Measurements from the six monitored gauges show increases ranging from 2 to 7 centimeters, with the strongest rise in the Silistra area and the smallest near Novo Selo.
