A woman working as a domestic help in the affluent northern suburbs of Athens has been arrested on suspicion of stealing thousands of euros worth of jewellery from her employers, police said Monday.
A police statement said the suspect, only identified as a 32-year-old foreign national, is believed to have pilfered valuables worth a total €40,000 over the past year-and-a-half from two homes where she worked in Ekali and Aghia Paraskevi.
She was arrested Thursday and faces charges of theft.
The police statement said the suspect used fake identities and refused to cooperate with detectives who took her into custody.
