Police on Wednesday said they had arrested a 35-year-old man on the island of Mykonos in connection with the alleged theft of personal belongings valued at 75,000 euros.
The Mykonos Police Sub-Division investigated the case following a complaint and recovered the stolen items, which included a bag and a watch, authorities said.
According to police, the suspect allegedly drove a 29-year-old foreign national in his private vehicle during the early hours of Tuesday for an agreed fare. As a guarantee until payment was made, the driver kept the passenger’s bag and its contents.
Police said that shortly before reaching their destination, the driver took advantage of a brief stop during which the passenger exited the vehicle, abandoned him and drove away with his personal belongings.
