A slight rise in temperature is expected Sunday, with a heightened wildfire risk in southeastern parts of Greece, while scattered rain is forecast in the north.
Strong winds will blow in the Aegean Sea, particularly in the southeast, while there’s a possibility of Saharan dust from north Africa being blown over to parts of western Greece.
The temperature will reach a maximum 37 degrees Celsius in the west, and up to 34 in Crete, while in other parts of the Aegean it will not exceed 32 degrees.
In the Greater Athens region the maximum temperature is forecast for 34 degrees, and 33 in Thessaloniki.
Civil protection authorities have warned of a very high wildfire risk in Crete, the Dodecanese, Samos and Ikaria, which have been placed on category 4 on Greece’s 5-notch scale of fire threat.
