The body of a 7-year-old boy who disappeared in the sea at Harmanite beach in Sozopol on Tuesday evening has been found, ending a large-scale search operation.
The child, who was from Svishtov, was swept away by a strong sea current near the third lifeguard post. His body was found after more than two hours of searching.
The boy's 52-year-old father had taken all three of his children to the beach during unguarded hours. The father entered the water with two of the children, but while he was focused on one of them, the other was swept away by the current.
The father himself was pulled from the water by two lifeguards who came to assist despite being outside their scheduled working hours. After being brought to shore, he told rescuers that one of his children was missing.
One of the rescuers who helped the father said the man was found in the water alongside other people who had attempted to help him.
