A 7-year-old Polish girl drowned in a hotel swimming pool in the Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach, prompting a pre-trial investigation by the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office.

The fatal incident took place on Tuesday. Prosecutors confirmed that an investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the child's death. As part of the inquiry, investigators have seized footage from the hotel's security cameras. The hotel where the tragedy occurred is described as one of the most luxurious in the resort.

According to preliminary information, the girl's family was vacationing in Sunny Beach. At the time of the incident, her parents were at a different swimming pool within the hotel complex, while the child went to a neighboring pool where animators were entertaining children. A lifeguard was reportedly on duty at the pool.

An eyewitness told local media that the pool gradually deepened, reaching a maximum depth of about 1.4 meters. "The child suddenly began to sink. Tourists were the first to notice what was happening and started shouting for help. There was great commotion. Vacationers jumped into the water and pulled the child out, but unfortunately it was already too late," the witness said.
