A 44-year-old tourist from Poland drowned in the sea at Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach resort on August 23, police said.
The incident happened in the afternoon and was reported to authorities at around 6 p.m. The man was on vacation in the resort and was swimming in the area of the guarded beach in front of the Glarus Hotel.
Although the beach was under lifeguard supervision, the tourist was pulled from the water without signs of life. Emergency teams arrived at the scene and carried out the necessary procedures, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
The man's body was transported to the forensic medicine department at University Hospital Burgas for an autopsy.
Police said the exact circumstances and cause of the drowning have yet to be established.
