A 76-year-old Polish national was found unconscious in the water east of Rethymno’s beach in Crete on Monday morning, a local news site reported.
Beach goers alerted the local Port Authority and the man was transported to the city’s General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Port Authority has undertaken the preliminary investigation into the causes of death and a post-mortem has been requested.
