A man was pulled unconscious from the sea near Chania, in Crete, on Saturday.
The man was seen shortly after 8 a.m. by bathers in Nea Chora who notified the authorities. Two lifeguards arrived and to pull him from the water, but the man was already dead.
According to the information reported by local news website neakriti.gr, the man has not been identified but is believed to be over 50 years old.
Authorities are investigating the causes and circumstances surrounding his death.
