In the Zhytomyr region, the area affected by the forest fire that has engulfed the “Drevlyansky” Nature Reserve has increased to nearly 49 hectares.
This was reported on Facebook by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Zhytomyr region, according to Ukrinform.
“Rescue workers and foresters continue to extinguish a ground-level forest fire that broke out in the Drevlyansky Nature Reserve in the Korosten district. The firefighting efforts are being hampered by weather conditions—high air temperatures, strong gusts of wind in some areas, and the inaccessibility of certain sections of the forest,” the statement reads.
It is reported that as of the evening of August 22, the area affected by the ground-level forest fire—which is spreading in separate pockets—had increased to nearly 49 hectares.
