The week ended on a high note for the Athens Stock Exchange, which ended at its highest level for the year, and its highest since November 11, 2009.
The General Index gained 1.34% to close at 2,634.24. On a weekly basis, it gained 0.42% despite two losing sessions; it is up 24.22% since the beginning of the year.
Turnover was a modest €194.26 million οf 25,659,073 traded shares.
Blue chips gained 1.42%, banks 1.69% and mid-caps dropped 0.26%. EYDAP (3.06%), National Bank (2.47%) and Coca-Cola HBC (2.31%) led all blue-chip gainers.
On September 21, the Athens Stock Exchange will be upgraded to a developed market from an emerging one by global index providers FTSE Russell, S&P Dow Jones and STOXX, but will remain an emerging market for MSCI until May 2027.
