Buying in banks and other blue chips led the Athens Stock Exchange slightly higher Tuesday.
The General Index closed at 2,614.44, up 0.29% on significantly higher turnover, at €307.09 million. Blue chips gained 0.39%, banks 0.31% and mid-caps dropped 0.06%.
Among blue chips, EYDAP gained 5.89%, Helleniq Energy 4.92%, Credia Bank 4.26%, Optima Bank 2.06% and PPC, Metlen, Jumbo and ElvalHalcor all gained over 1%. Aktor lost 4.1%, while Coca-Cola and Titan lost over 1%.
On Wednesday, MSCI will announce changes in its indices. Athens will remain among the emerging markets until May 2027; attention will focus on any additions. The index contains nine stocks: National Bank, Eurobank, Piraeus, Alpha Bank, PPC, GEK Terna, OTE, Jumbo and Allwyn.
