Human rights news agency HRANA has reported that 18-year-old protester Zahra Rabbani, who was arrested during the January protests in Bojnord, has been sentenced to prison time and monetary fines.
According to the report, the Revolutionary Court of Bojnord sentenced Rabbani to seven months and 16 days in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security.” She received an additional sentence of seven months and 16 days in prison (habs-e ta’ziri), along with a fine of 1 million Tomans, for “manufacturing explosive materials.”
The verdict further specifies that she must pay a fine of 4 million Tomans on charges of “carrying and distributing explosive materials.” An additional fine of 1 million Tomans, equivalent to one to two times the value of the materials, was also imposed.
Zahra Rabbani was arrested by security forces on January 5. She was temporarily released on bail in late February pending trial and sentencing.
