Two people have been arrested over the stabbing of a woman in a Thessaloniki apartment by a man who claimed she had been trying to steal his belongings, police said Thursday.
A police statement said the 31-year-old man had met the 25-year-old woman online and invited her to visit him in an apartment in the Saranta Ekklissies district.
At some point, he allegedly noticed that she was trying to steal a watch, the statement said, and when he tried to stop her she pulled a knife on him. He then allegedly tore the weapon from her grasp and stabbed her with it.
He was arrested and faces charges of attempted homicide. The woman was hospitalised under police guard and faces charges of attempted robbery and breaches of arms laws.
