A man has been arrested in the southern town of Kalamata on suspicion of stabbing his wife to death following a domestic dispute early Sunday, authorities said.
A police statement said the 39-year-old woman’s body was found in her flat before dawn by officers sent to the spot after neighbors called emergency services. She had been stabbed multiple times with a knife.
Her 41-year-old husband was arrested on the spot and faces charges of homicide, domestic violence and breaches of weapons laws. Police said a knife found in the flat is believed to have been the murder weapon.
Reports said the couple had two small children. It was unclear whether they were in the flat during the fatal attack.
