The level of the Danube River has fallen by another centimeter over the past 24 hours at the water gauges in Nikopol, Ruse and Silistra, according to data from the Bulgarian Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River.
The latest readings show a mixed picture along the Bulgarian section of the river. Water levels remained unchanged at Vidin, Oryahovo and Svishtov, while increases were recorded at Lom and Novo Selo. The level near Lom rose by 3 centimeters, while Novo Selo registered a 1-centimeter increase.
Despite the continued low water levels and difficult navigation conditions, there were no reports over the past 24 hours of vessels becoming stranded either within or outside the navigable fairway, according to the River Supervision Directorate.
However, the hydrological and navigation situation remains difficult. Restrictions on vessel traffic continue to apply along the entire Bulgarian section of the Danube because of the low water levels.
The latest data also show that the level near Ruse remains particularly low, with the gauge reading at minus 123 centimeters. The situation remains dynamic, with slight increases in the northwestern part of the country failing to offset the continuing decline at several other monitoring points.
