Coimbatore district has recorded a 95% higher education enrolment rate among government school students who appeared for the Class 12 public examination in 2025–26, with 10,560 of the 10,790 students who passed having enrolled in higher education.As many as 386 students who had not pursued further studies secured immediate admission through a special camp organised for students who had not continued their education after Classes 10 and 12.The ‘Uyarvukku Padi’ special camp was organised jointly by the Coimbatore district administration and the School Education Department at four locations in the district recently. Around 600 students and their parents participated in the camps.Of the students who secured admission, 37 joined colleges, 90 enrolled in polytechnic colleges and 144 joined Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). Another 59 students enrolled in skill development training programmes.The camps were aimed at identifying students who had either passed or failed Classes 10 and 12 but had not continued their education, and facilitating their return to the education system or vocational training.According to officials, 264 students who attended the camps are awaiting counselling for admission to various colleges, while 58 students are preparing for competitive examinations.In the 2025–26 academic year, 11,353 students from Coimbatore district appeared for the Class 12 public examination, of whom 10,790 passed.
