Highest enrolment of first-time voters recorded this year: Coimbatore Collector

First-time voter enrolment in Coimbatore district in 2026 has been the highest in recent years, District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar said during an interaction with journalists at The Hindu office in Coimbatore city on Saturday (March 7, 2026).

The Collector, who visited the newspaper’s printing facility and interacted with editorial, production and marketing staff, said the district administration had recorded a rise in the number of young voters registering their names in the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
