The number of voters in Coimbatore district has increased by 29,796 across its ten Assembly constituencies between the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and the finalisation of the electoral roll for the Assembly election.

As on March 15, when the MCC came into force, the district had 27,14,676 electors, including 13,08,898 male voters, 14,05,246 female voters and 532 other voters.

Following updation of the rolls, the total number of electors rose to 27,44,472 as on April 6. The revised figures show 13,22,759 male voters, 14,21,179 female voters and 534 other voters.

Officials said the electoral roll to be used for the Assembly election will be an integrated one, which incorporates all additions made during the continuous updation period since the last final publication of rolls on February 23.

Applications received till March 26 have been processed and included in the roll prepared as on April 6, which will serve as the final electoral roll for the upcoming election across all the ten constituencies in the district.
