AIADMK protests against the TVK-led government over the latter’s “failed promises”, in Krishnagiri on Friday.

AIADMK deputy general secretary K.P. Munusamy here on Friday (August 14) led protests called by the party against the TVK-led government. The protesters sought agricultural loan waiver without any caveats and slammed the government for its alleged failure to secure Cauvery waters for Tamil Nadu.Hundreds of AIADMK cadre thronged the new bus stand in solidarity with the party high-command’s announcement of a massive protest against the “failed promises” of the TVK-led government.Leading the protests and speaking on the occasion, Mr. Munusamy spoke on how the government failed to include agricultural loan waiver for farmers with less than 5 acre of farm, in the recently tabled Agriculture Budget.According to Mr. Munusamy, farmers were facing a host of issues, and the chief among them was the failed promise of the State government to write-off the agricultural loans of all farmers as part of its election manifesto.Mr. Munusamy spoke at length about the loan waivers under the earlier AIADMK governments and alleged that the farmers were blindsided by the TVK-led government, which went back on its promise.Mr. Munusamy also alleged failure on part of the State government to pressure the Karnataka government through legal means to halt the Mekadatu project. According to him, the only recourse to stop Karnataka on its tracks was the Supreme Court and alleged that the TVK-led government was not inclined to put up a good fight on Mekadatu and Cauvery.
