AIADMK functionaries staged protests in Dindigul and Theni districts on Friday, condemning the TVK-led government for failing to fully waive crop loans for farmers. They also criticised the State government for its handling of the Mekedatu issue.In Dindigul district, the protests were led by Senior AIADMK leader Dindigul C. Sreenivasan. He said the TVK-led government had failed to fulfil the poll promises made to the people, particularly the farmers. The government failed to fully waive crop loans for farmers. The farmers suffered crop loss. The State government has betrayed the farmers, he said.He criticised the government for its handling of the Mekedatu issue. The government should take necessary steps to prevent Karnataka from proceeding with the construction of the Mekedatu dam across the Cauvery river, he said. He also criticised the government for not securing the State’s share of Cauvery water.In Theni district, AIADMK functionaries conducted a protest condemning the TVK government.
