Eurovision Director Martin Green has congratulated Burgas on being selected to host the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, saying the Black Sea city will bring a distinctive Bulgarian character to the event.
“We are delighted that Burgas will be the host city. It brings something truly special to the contest. It is a vibrant, welcoming city on the Black Sea, with a strong musical and cultural identity, which has the ambition, infrastructure and passion to welcome the Eurovision family,” Green said.
He said organizers want next year's competition to combine the Eurovision tradition with the character of its host country, creating “a true Bulgarian spirit” while also making the event “a celebration that unites people through music.”
Green also thanked all the Bulgarian cities that submitted bids to host the first Eurovision Song Contest in the country. Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas took part in the selection process.
“We thank all the cities that showed such enthusiasm in their bids to host the first Eurovision Song Contest in Bulgaria,” Green said, adding that organizers are looking forward to “creating an unforgettable week in May and welcoming the world to Burgas.”
