Burgas erupted in celebration after being selected to host Eurovision 2027, with residents gathering in front of the city hall just moments after the decision was announced.
Loudspeakers across the city center broadcast the news, quickly turning the announcement into a spontaneous celebration. People who had not yet heard the result began gathering outside the Burgas Municipality building, while Eurovision-themed T-shirts reading “Burgas - Eurovision” appeared among the crowd.
Residents said they were thrilled that the international music competition would be coming to the Black Sea city.
“Eurovision is in Burgas!? It’s in Burgas!? I’m learning now, honestly! I’m very happy. I’m very happy. We deserve it!” one resident said.
Another welcomed the decision as a chance to bring more international visitors to the coast and showcase a different part of Bulgaria.
