Passenger traffic at the capital’s ports remains elevated as holidaymakers taking their August leave head to the islands in large numbers.
More than 100,000 passengers departed from Piraeus, Athens’ main port, between Friday and Monday, according to port data, as ferry operators handled a steady flow of travelers boarding heavily booked services to the islands.
Ferry services were operating according to schedule, authorities said, with no major disruptions reported.
On Monday, 21 ferry departures were scheduled from Piraeus for destinations in the Cyclades, the eastern Aegean, Crete and the Dodecanese, according to state broadcaster ERT.
At least 20 additional routes were scheduled to serve destinations in the Argo-Saronic Gulf.
