Sixteen bar managers have been arrested in recent days for playing excessively loud music in their establishments on a series of Greek resort islands.
A police statement said Monday that ten people were arrested over the weekend on the Ionian Sea islands of Lefkada, Zakynthos and Corfu, “during inspections aimed to secure the public’s quality of life.”
Another six people were arrested late Friday and early Saturday on the Aegean Sea islands of Santorini, Mykonos and Syros for exceeding the legal noise limit.
In both cases, police pledged to persist with inspections over one of the most common summer complaints in tourist areas.
Similar arrests were announced on several islands earlier this month.
