Five people have been arrested on the Aegean Sea resort island of Santorini following a brawl over a drugs deal, authorities said Monday.
A police statement said that the suspects, two Greeks and three foreign nationals, face charges including possessing and dealing in drugs, weapons and immigration offences and providing false testimony.
Sunday’s arrests came a day after one of the suspects, a 25-year-old foreign national, was hospitalised on the island with a stab wound. Another of the foreign suspects was found to have been living in Greece illegally, to have been sentenced in absentia to nearly three years in prison for grievous bodily harm, and to face an arrest warrant for alleged livestock theft.
More than a kilogram of marijuana was found in the suspects’ possession.
