The Athens Stock Exchange ended with mild losses for a second consecutive session Thursday as investors lock in profits made over the previous day. The selling remained under control, though.

The ASE General Index closed at 2,608.44, a 0.59% drop, on turnover of €320.32 million.

Blue chips dropped 0.55%; among them, banks declined just 0.01%. Mid-caps dropped 0.24%.

Among blue chips, Viohalco and PPC lost over 4%, followed by ElvalHalcor’s 3.12%; GEK Terna and OTE dropped over 2%. Cenergy topped the gainers (3.1%), while Optima Bank and Metlen gained over 2%.

The general index rising to nearly 17-year-old highs has led some investors to become more cautious, selling stocks with high gains. But it is companies’ financial results that still drive portfolio strategies.
