Bulgaria will face another day of intense summer heat on Friday, August 7, with the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology issuing an orange code warning for dangerously high temperatures in eight regions of the country.

The second-level weather alert covers the regions of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, and Plovdiv, where daytime temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 38 degrees Celsius.

A yellow code for high temperatures has been issued for nearly all remaining regions of Bulgaria, where maximum temperatures are forecast to range between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius. Smolyan is the only region not included in the heat warnings.

Friday will begin with clear skies and light winds after a calm overnight period. Sunny conditions are expected across most of the country, although cumulus clouds will develop during the afternoon, mainly over Western Bulgaria and parts of the northeast. Isolated areas could see brief showers and thunderstorms later in the day.

The hot weather is expected to continue through the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will remain mostly sunny, with afternoon cloud development once again bringing a chance of localized showers and thunderstorms, primarily in western and northeastern parts of the country.
