Samoa’s athletes are now back after ending their campaign at the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, tied for 17th place among the 74 nations that competed.
Samoa secured two medals, with both coming from historic weightlifting performances.
The two medals came from John Lautafi Tafi’s record-breaking silver medal performance in the men’s 71kg division and Seine Stowers’ gold medal victory in the women’s 77kg division.
Tafi lifted a combined total of 314kg, including a 142kg snatch and 172kg clean and jerk. His clean and jerk lift set a Commonwealth Games record.
Stowers recorded a 219kg total, with a 96kg snatch and 123kg clean and jerk to secure gold.
