The youngest member of Samoa’s Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games weightlifting squad, 17-year-old Sefulu Seuao, has secured a top-six finish after competing in the women’s 86kg competition on Wednesday, July 29.
Competing against a strong field of 10 athletes, Seuao placed sixth after lifting a combined total of 219kg.
She successfully lifted 96kg in the snatch before adding 123kg in the clean and jerk to secure her final total.
Australia's Eileen Floanna Maria Cikamatana claimed the gold medal with a Commonwealth Games record total of 248kg. England's Madias Ngake won silver with 239kg, while Canada's Rose Beaudoin took bronze on 230kg.
Seuao successfully lifted 96kg in the snatch before being unable to improve on her second and third attempts. She followed with a 123kg lift in the clean and jerk to finish with a combined total of 219kg, placing sixth ahead of Vanuatu’s Ajah Pritchard Lolo, who finished seventh with 217kg.
