Samoan weightlifter Emmanuel Shalom Palota Ulimasao has finished sixth in the men’s 94kg competition at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, marking his debut at the event.

The 20-year-old recorded a combined total of 324kg at the SEC Armadillo on Wednesday, July 29.

Ulimasao lifted 144kg in the snatch before completing a 180kg clean and jerk to finish among the top six competitors in the event.

Malaysia’s Mohamad Syahmi Bin Nor-Ghazali won gold with a total of 347kg, while Canada’s Alex Bellemarre claimed silver with 346kg and Australia’s Oliver Riley Saxton took bronze with 336kg.

Ulimasao produced a standout performance at the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau, where he competed in the men’s 94kg division and won three gold medals.
