Samoa's Felevaa Tafi delivered a composed performance to finish seventh in the men's 65kg weightlifting competition at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Sunday.
The 19-year-old lifter completed all six of his attempts to finish with a combined total of 238kg, made up of a 108kg snatch and a 130kg clean and jerk.
Tafi entered the competition with an entry total of 250kg, the eighth highest among the 11 lifters in the field.
In the snatch, Tafi successfully lifted 108kg on his opening attempt before missing 111kg on his third lift. He then opened the clean and jerk with a successful 130kg lift but was unable to improve on 135kg in his remaining two attempts.
Malaysia's Muhamad Aznil Bin Bidin claimed the gold medal with a Commonwealth Games record total of 299kg after lifting 133kg in the snatch and 166kg in the clean and jerk. India's Raja Muthupandi won silver with 286kg, while Papua New Guinea's Morea Baru secured bronze on 282kg.
