Sofia Municipality will provide free mineral water at three locations in the capital on August 5, 6 and 7 as temperatures are expected to rise significantly above seasonal averages.

The water distribution initiative will begin at 1:00 p.m. each day and will take place at three busy public locations: in front of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” at the Serdika metro station, and near the pylons of the National Palace of Culture.

Mineral water will be handed out free of charge until available supplies run out.

The municipality announced the measure in response to forecasts for hot weather in early August. According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, the first days of the month will be sunny, with temperatures considerably higher than normal for the season.

Sofia Municipality urged residents and visitors to limit prolonged exposure outdoors during the hottest parts of the day, drink enough fluids and pay particular attention to children, elderly people and those with chronic illnesses.
