Sofia Municipality has introduced a series of measures to help residents cope with the ongoing heat wave, including the distribution of free drinking water and the cooling of major roads across the city.
Beginning today, free bottled water is being handed out at the Serdika metro station, while the municipality has also allocated funding to district administrations so they can establish additional distribution points in different neighborhoods. In the Krasna Polyana district, four locations have already been designated: the stop near the 28 DKC medical center on Vazkresenie Boulevard, in front of the Fantastico supermarket on Aleko Turandzha Street, at the Wagon Restaurant on Aleksandar Stamboliyski Boulevard, and at the intersection of Nikola Mushanov Boulevard and Dobrotich Street.
Municipal officials said more districts are expected to announce similar locations in the coming days, with updates to be published through the official communication channels of the respective district administrations. In addition to these temporary stations, Sofia residents also have access to more than 190 public drinking fountains located in parks, gardens, and other public spaces throughout the capital.
