Twenty-four-year-old Benjamin "Beno" Štutika from eastern Slovakia has begun a second attempt to reach the Black Sea using only a bicycle and a canoe. After running out of time during a similar expedition in 2024, the adventurer has returned with a revised plan that combines nearly 1,730 kilometres of cycling and paddling across Central and Southeastern Europe.
Štutika plans to cycle about 780 kilometres from his hometown of Belá nad Cirochou to Tekija, a village on the Serbian-Romanian border, before continuing roughly 950 kilometres by canoe along the Danube to the Romanian port of Sulina, where the river meets the Black Sea. He is carrying about 70 kilograms of equipment, with his bicycle travelling on the canoe during the river section of the journey.
